Chef Rodney Jones

 

Chef Rodney Jones opened Rodney’s on Broadway on Jan. 31 2011 in historic downtown Georgetown, Kentucky.

Chef Rodney brings over 30 years of experience to his latest venture. He has served up dishes in the Lexington area from places as diverse as private fine-dining clubs to a Jamaican restaurant, and everything in between. His recipes have been featured in cookbooks, magazines, and newspapers.

Rodney’s on Broadway is known for their Prime Beef steaks, they also serve fresh seafood, lamb, duck, and great pasta dishes.

Chef Rodney and his wife, Elizabeth Johnson-Jones, are business partners in the restaurant. He brings his years of great cooking experience, and she brings extensive business knowledge.

Chef Rodney began cooking at age 19 when he traded his guitar for a job in the kitchen at the Lexington Club in downtown Lexington. He found working in the kitchen was more steady work than performing in the restaurant bar.

Before the Lexington Club, his kitchen experience came from his mother’s kitchen in Rock Island, Ill.

"I had a knack for it," says Chef. "My mom was really innovative making tacos, flour tortillas, and meatloaf that was unlike anyone else’s. That was 45 years ago."

But the guitar is not far away. Some evening you never know if you will hear a little guitar music coming from the bar.
